Points of interest

Milemarkers along the tracks help to identify points of interest, which we have also compiled for you in a “logbook”. Excerpts of this you will find on the following page.

Food & provisions

You will find a good restaurant aboard the CHEPE to supply you with food and drinks. In addition, there are small shops all along the stretch, where you can buy any necessities.

Punctually

The CHEPE is, as a rule, punctual. Unexpected delays can occur, however, due to repair work or poor weather conditions.

The best seating

The best way to enjoy the trip on the CHEPE is standing, at the open windows of the coach doors. The seating in the large compartments is unobstructed, and allows a view of the sights on both sides of the route.

Air conditioning

The CHEPE is pleasantly air-conditioned. The large fluctuations in temperature and altitude make an airconditioning system indispensable.

Stops along the way

The journey can be interrupted as often as desired along the way – even for one or more days – without surcharge.

Hotel-transfers

All transfers are included when the complete program is booked. When only hotels are booked, transfer to your hotel is included at the Bahuichivo, Posada Barrancas, Divisadero and Creel stations.

Safety aboard the train

There is no need to worry about your safety aboard the CHEPE. It is the responsibility of the attendants to look after your luggage while you enjoy the journey. Do, however, keep valuables and travel documents on your person.

Sanitary facilities

The toilet facilities aboard the CHEPE are clean. The waste water is ecologically treated in Chihuahua and Los Mochis.

Technical safety

The Mexican transportation company FerroMex runs the CHEPE according to U.S. safety standards.

Wheelchairs

A large area at the entrance to the coach, directly at a window, is ideal for a wheelchair. A disabled persons toilet is, however, not available at present. The train attendants will be happy to assist any passengers with disabilities upon boarding and alighting.

Announcement of stops

The name of the next stop will be announced by train personnel about 10 minutes before the train arrives there.
