Stops along the Chepe

From Los Mochis to Chihuahua, the CHEPE follows a spectacular track through most diverse landscapes.

During your journey, you cover a difference in altitude of about 2,440 m (8,005 ft.), passing wildly rugged landscapes with many forms of vegetation. Nature as close as it can be, breathtaking views into dizzying gorges – and the marks of civilization limited to farms and houses, often toy-like on the bottom of the gorges, and the stations.

At the CHEPE stations, you meet the local population, the believers, and the Indians – their culture of the present and the past. Use the stations as starting points to get a deeper knowledge of the canyon in its entire diversity.

On the following pages, you will learn more about some of the most interesting stops along the Chihuahua al Pacífico Railway – the CHEPE. Begin your journey near Topolobampo on the coast and go northeastwards to Chihuahua or take the opposite train from the Chihuahua plateau down to the ocean.
